Kääntöpöytä
Kääntöpöytä on Pasilan ratapihalla sijaitseva yhteisöviljelmä, kestävän ruoantuotannon ja kaupunkisuunnittelun laboratorio sekä vertaisoppimisen ja kaupunkikulttuurin keskus.
Pasilan ratapiha on ollut ympäristöjärjestö Dodo ry:n kaupunkiviljelyn alkupiste jo vuodesta 2009, jolloin ensimmäinen kaupunkikasvimaa perustettiin. Vuonna 2012 perustettu Kääntöpöytä toimii sekä kaupunkiviljelyn kokeilukenttänä että oppimisen ja inspiraation lähteenä. Kääntöpöydällä järjestetään talkoita, työpajoja, nautiskellaan auringosta ja yleisötapahtumista, opitaan luomuviljelystä ja viedään kasvun siemen muuallekin kaupunkiin.

After dinner, we`ll dive into the world of fermentation and learn how to make your own kombuchat at home. We’ll prepare a batch of kombucha together, and everyone will have the opportunity to experiment different flavours and take home a piece of scoby or even a bottle of their own kombucha, bring a jar and an old glass bottle (like beer ones)!🫙🌟

This Mandela Dayy 2024, we took our cue from the man himself and we decided on an initiative driving sustainable living in our community. PLANTING HOPE, GROWING CHANGE!!!!
We visited 3 children’s homes spending around 67 minutes at each….where we shared lunch, snacks and fruit with the children and caregivers but the highlight was the gardening. We donated fruit trees and vegetable seedlings to each home and we had the privilege of getting our hands dirty and planted with the kids. We also had an informative talks on sustainable living and our aim to support the dreams and growth of our children.
We ended each visit with lots of dance and laughter and love. Thats how we chose to do celebrate and honor the icon that was Nelson Mandela.

The future is bright! We spent an inspiring day at Bondo Township Primary School, educating students about climate change and empowering them to take action. Together, we planted 200 indigenous trees, nurturing a healthier planet for generations to come.

Tree planting at Ololomei Primary School. 🌱🍃
We had a fruitful and engaging exercise with Ololomei Environmental Club where we planted 103 indigenous seedlings. The environmental club at the school stands as guardians of these young trees as they planted them with a love for conservation and a greener future.
With each tree planted, we sow the seeds of change and inspire a generation to leave a lasting legacy of environmental stewardship. Through this act of tree planting, we cultivate not only a greener school environment but also a deeper connection to the natural world.
