Kääntöpöytä – Turntable
Turntable is a community farm located at the Pasila railway yard, a laboratory for sustainable food production and urban planning, and a center for peer learning and urban culture.
Pasila railway yard has been an environmental organization Dodo ry, the starting point of urban farming since 2009, when the first urban vegetable garden was established. Founded in 2012, Kättöpöytä functions both as an experimental field for urban farming and as a source of learning and inspiration. Talks, workshops are organized on the turntable, people enjoy the sun and public events, learn about organic farming and take the seed of growth to other parts of the city.

Dodon toimistolla kokoontuu maanantaisin ryhmä korjaamaan ja luomaan yhdessä! Käsityökerhossa keskitytään tekstiilien korjaukseen, mutta opitaan myös esimerkiksi luonnonvärjäystekniikoista. 🧵☕

Tervetuloa Urban Dinner - tapahtumaan 25.2. Kokkaamme herkkuja hävikistä, valmistamme yhdessä kombuchaa ja syömme yhteisen aterian.
Tässä Urban Dinner - tilaisuudessa FEMMA Planningin harjoittelija Anna Li pitää työpajan, jossa käsitellään monikielisen kaupungin teemaa. Illallisen jälkeen Anna pitää lyhyen esityksen aiheesta "Perceiving multilingualism in urban space". Tämän jälkeen aloitamme avoimet keskustelut ryhmässä.
Työpajan tavoitteena on tutkia kulttuurista monimuotoisuutta ja herättämään keskustelua monikielisistä kaupunkitiloista. Tapahtuma pidetään englanniksi, mutta keskusteluissa voi keskustella haluamallaan kielellä.
Arvostamme toistemme kokemuksia ja kunnioitamme jokaista näkökulmaa - tuo siis ystäväsi mukaan ja liity keskusteluun!

After dinner Saskia Huebschle will give a presentation on foraging holistically within the frame of her bachelor thesis research. The presentation will be videotaped.
The presentation will give an overview of some of the health benefits of foraging to create a basic understanding of the topic, a short introduction to Adventure Education - the field Saskia is studying - and present the findings of my thesis research in regards to the holistic impacts which foraging can have on people!

Are you interested in combining urban gardening and aesthetics? Do you want to develop a prototype that creates a spectacular growing space, works as a support for plants or maybe make hideouts for bugs? 🌿🗽
Growing Beauty is a Erasmus+ project in cooperation with Blivande in Stockholm, Sweden. The main aim is to develop urban food production prototypes for both of our locations, Kääntöpöytä in Pasila and Frihamnstorget in Stockholm. 🌿🗽
The call for proposals is open to people in the age range 15-25 years between 1.11-15.12. The 3-5 selected projects are developed further with experts in February-March and then built April-August to be exhibited at HarFest in September 2025. The Cofunding page (link in bio) where the proposals will be gathered presents the call in more detail! 🌿🗽
